Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2 is the second celebrity edition of the Pinoy Big Brother franchise. It started on October 14 2007 and will end 70 days later on December 22 of the same year. Toni Gonzaga will reprise her role as the primetime host, while Uplate host Mariel Rodriguez will now be moving to a much earlier timeslot with ex-Update host Bianca Gonzalez via a brand new show, Pinoy Big Brother Über. This new season also marks the hosting debut of second season winner, Beatriz Saw as she hosts the Updates.

The theme song, Sikat ang Pinoy originally sung by host Toni Gonzaga and PBB 1 alum Sam Milby, was rehashed and was performed by Pinoy Dream Academy Grand Star Dreamer Yeng Constantino and PDA finalist Eman Abatayo.

There are several changes or twists for this season:

  • Two-in-One Housemate (2-in-1): Two celebrity housemates (HM) related in some sort are considered as one unit or HM. Nominations for, text votes for, and eviction of one HM applies to the other as well.
  • Head of Household whose role is different from the US version
  • Season-Long Task (see Weekly Tasks below)

Unlike past editions, Studio 23 does not air a companion program for the show. But it still continues to present delayed feed from inside the House during noontime.

House theme

For this Celebrity Edition, the House is the refurbished one used in the second regular season. But unlike the previous Celebrity Edition wherein the housemates entered into an almost empty House, this edition's housemates entered into a royalty-themed house, now containing murals, chandeliers, posh furniture, and lighting fixtures. The gym equipment is now found in the garden. The room previously used by the men in the second regular season is now used by the women, and vice versa. The original bathroom is now the special shower room to be used exclusively by the Head of Household and his/her chosen companion. One of the two original "his-her" restrooms is now the general shower/bath room while the other has become the general restroom.

Also added is a jail-like Punishment Room found along the way towards the confession and storage rooms. This is where the housemates who committed violations would stay and perform an assigned punishment until Big Brother's further instructions.

Housemates

"Thirteen" (including the 2-in-1 housemates) is the official count of housemates who entered the House. The first "eight" housemates (including the 2-in-1 housemates for both genders) entered the House on Day 1, October 14. The first seven were introduced each, in silhouette before revelation. The eighth housemate was introduced through in a Deal or No Deal-esque style, since one of the 26K ladies was about to enter. The surprise housemates were also introduced with one hiding inside a giant travel bag while the other being acknowledged to the live audience before proceeding into the House's activity area. The last five housemates entered on Days 2 to 4. They are listed here in order of entrance.

Each housemate is assigned a housemate number depending on their entry to the House; the Geisler brothers and the 26K models are assigned the numbers 7 and 8 respectively. These numbers are used in voting a particular housemate by SMS. This is a deviation from past editions wherein voting is done by name.

Like Megan, she was a talent from GMA, but later transferred to ABS-CBN. She was noted for her relationship with basketball player Alex Crisano. Although she initially wanted to back out from the show, she eventually made the decision to enter on Day 4. She is playing for C.R.I.B.S. Foundation.

Houseguests

Like the second regular season, there are also houseguests who stayed in the House for no more than a specific amount of time without undergoing the nomination and eviction process.

Host Mariel Rodriguez is the first houseguest. She was "trapped" in the House by Big Brother on Day 4 after she brought Jon into the confession room and then the main House area. Contrary to what was presented when she came in, Mariel was in the House with a special mission and she did so with the consents of herself and her manager Boy Abunda. That mission is to be Big Brother's extra eyes and ears and to report which of the celebrity housemates are being true to themselves. When she will leave is still unknown.

Host Toni Gonzaga was the second houseguest after Mariel. She was called by Big Brother on Day 15 to go to the confession room and later he said that she was the newest houseguest because she was the only host of Pinoy Big Brother that he hadn't bond with, unlike Bianca Gonzales, a housemate during the first Celebrity Edition, and Mariel, who is currently playing out her houseguest role. She was also told to perform certain tasks in order for her to leave, among them hosting a slumber party for the housemates and accompanying Riza to her rite of closure on the murder of Riza's nephew. She left the House on Day 19, having performed the said tasks. During her time in the House, Bianca took over hosting duties for the primetime edition of the show.

TV show host Kris Aquino was the third houseguest. She entered the House on Day 23 to help the housemates cook spaghetti carbonara and brought them gifts and letters from their loved ones. Her stay lasted until the afternoon, after saying "No Deal" to Big Brother. The meaning of that response as well as those of Big Brother's prior question "Deal or No Deal" and an already-prepared luggage bag in the confession room is open to interpretation.

Chronology of important events

Week 1

On Day 1, the first eight housemates entered the House blindfolded and made to wait in the living area. After the usual introductions and greetings from Big Brother, he instructed Marylaine to have her and a male companion to get a giant travel bag at the passage towards the confession room. Once they rolled the bag into the living area, Marylaine opened the bag to reveal Jen.

Also on Day 1 (technically on the wee hours of Day 2), the housemates performed a task to release keys from a block of ice floating on the pool. Those keys would open a large beer barrel at the activity area. After all 33 keys were released, the male housemates proceeded to the activity area. After an hour, they managed to open the beer barrel to reveal Baron's older brother Donald. Later, after Marylaine and Donald could not find their luggage, they were informed by Big Brother of their status as one-half of each of the two pairs known as the "2-in-1 Housemates" and had to borrow and share things from their partners.

On Day 2, while some of the housemates were lounging in the garden, Gaby entered the house riding a "twister bike" (basically a child's trike) along a ramp that led to the pool. Although she could swim very well, she was helped out of the water by Victor.

On Day 3, Mcoy and Zara entered the House. As part of a task, Mcoy, being the former frontman of Orange and Lemons, sang Pinoy Ako directly inside the confession room. The other housemates heard him sing and tried to find him, but couldn't. It was only after he emerged from the confession room that the others saw him. Later, Zara was escorted into the House by Baron. Later in a beauty pageant-related task, Will accidentally fell into the pool while still wearing his lapel microphone. As a result, Big Brother gave Will a handheld microphone in place of his then-wet lapel microphone. To further Will's misery, Boy Abunda's voice was heard and talked to Will and the other housemates like the former would in his talk shows as Will wearing spectacles resembles Boy.

On Day 4, Mariel brought Jon into the house. Mariel thought she was only bringing Jon to leave him there. But she was told to introduce Jon to the other housemates. With nothing else but the microphone and the gown and shoes she was wearing, she was given her lapel microphone, finding out to her horror that she had become a "celebrity houseguest." Having the feeling that "I could die," Mariel was comforted by Big Brother, showed her why her friend-manager Boy Abunda consented to have her in the House and even assured her that her clothes were being packed and brought into the House as her kin had already known of her entry. Although she already borrowed clothes from her fellow female housemates, hers arrived a few hours later.

Also on Day 4, Ethel was welcomed a small party organized by Big Brother. Ruben, being in the same profession as Ethel, was tasked to host the party.

On Day 6, Marylaine was caught by several housemates using their clothes without permission. Jen told this to Big Brother, and was asked what they talked about regarding the matter. Jen also said that she asked Marylaine if the she needs to borrow things only from the latter. Marylaine slipped with a "yes", though Big Brother forbids her to tell her other housemates about it. Will has not yet received his penalty for accidentally wetting his lapel. He also committed several violations with his hand-held microphone given as replacement. Mariel has always been cussing inside the House and has accidentally divulged information about the "2-in-1 Housemate" and he accidentally said a bad word when she is talking to Big Brother. Later, the three were asked to go to the confession room and was told of their violations and was asked to pick up pieces of paper that would reveal their "punishments". Much later they served their punishments in the "Punishment Room" where Will and Mariel peeled a bowl of lanzones using their mouths, and Marylaine shedded coats of squash seeds.

On Day 7, Will finally had his lapel microphone returned to him, but he had to get past cockroaches and other insects to get it. Later, Marylaine and Jen were put in the punishment room for a violation Jen committed by telling the others who she did not nominate. Big Brother also explained their 2-in-1 Housemate connection. In the punishment room, the two train tracks used in the past Weekly Task in its confines. Much later, Ethel joined the two because she also violated rules by whispering to Mariel in relation to the Geisler brothers. But Ethel was let out due to health concerns.

Week 2

On Day 8, the atrocities between Jen and Marylaine seemed to worsen, even to the point that Marylaine's violations affected Jen and vice versa because of their connection and Marylaine had thoughts of making a voluntary exit. Being cooped up at the possibility that their stay would end at the end of the week, Jen told Marylaine to just enjoy what might be their last week in the House. The two later cooperated in completing their punishment, and by that time, both the atrocities of the two and Marylaine's plans for a voluntary exit seemed to have waned.

Also on Day 8, the first HOH competition was held wherein the housemates (with the exception of Baron's partner-brother Donald and nominees Megan, Jen and Marylaine) wore giant "hands" and played a game similar the Japanese game of karuta using colors. Ethel won in that game and decided to have Mariel accompany her in using the special shower room.

On Day 10, Donnie and Marylaine finally had several of their clothes after Gaby and Victor packed some of their things just to make it happen. They did not get their entire luggage however because Big Brother told them that whatever they could wear at the same time on the spot within a short amount of time would be the clothes they would wear inside the House area.

On Day 13, Donnie and Victor were tasked to gather clothes hung high at the grills over the garden. Despite the obvious height, they, along with Gaby, managed to bring all clothes down dry. This marked the return of most of Gaby's clothes.

Week 3

On Day 15, Gaby momentarily left the House to compete in a Formula Three race in the Subic International Speedway. Despite competing against men and her car having an engine problem, she managed to finish in first place in the second heat of the competition.

Also on Day 15, Toni walked in to personally give the last two "black medallions" to Baron and Donnie as the brothers were nominated for eviction. However, when she was called into the confession room, she was told by Big Brother that she was the new houseguest because, like Mariel, he wanted to know more about her.

On Day 16, the second HOH competition was held, involving children's trikes. Riza, Ruben, and Will won in each of the three preliminary heats, with Riza winning the final round and the title of Head of Household.

On Day 17, Mcoy, Victor, and Riza temporarily left the House to help embalm the body of a man who had been dead for a month due to a heart attack and whose family had no money for a proper embalming, let alone a decent funeral. Inside of the House during the absence of the trio, the other housemates also did Halloween-related tasks also to help the said man's family. However, Gaby was visibly pissed after her ordeal of being a human statue of St. Michael the Archangel.

On Day 18, Baron, in a struggle to stay awake due to the weekly task, had his foot smash one pane of the living room table. Once the table was taken out to be repaired, the housemates talked about Baron's actions in the House and later ways on how to pay for the table after they found out that it cost more than their potential weekly budget should they win the weekly task. Later, after the housemates partied with Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz in a black-attire party, they saw that every other table in the House was gone. In particular, the long dining table was replaced with two panes of glass on which they would eat, with some housemate acting as one pane's "table legs." The disappearance of every good table left in the House can be deduced as a consequence for the breakage of the living room table.

On Day 19, Toni was told that she could leave the House. But before she left, she wrote and recited a poem to the housemates, saying thank you to them. Toni's mother came in to fetch her up. But since it was Toni's mother's birthday, the housemates not only said their goodbyes to Toni, but also greeted her mother a "Happy Birthday."

On Day 20, Yayo was taken to the hospital due to high blood pressure as recommended by the doctor. She returned to the house the next day.

Also on Day 20, Ethel accidentally broke a very small part of the chandelier in the men's bedroom while tossing throw pillows with several of the housemates. Ruben, having started the game, felt responsible for the events and request that the punishment be given to him. But since the tossing happened in the men's bedroom, all seven male housemates were incarcerated in the punishment room while Big Brother decided on the punishment to be given to them.

On Day 21, in order to salvage their weekly budget, Baron, Donald, Will, and Ruben participated in a task of balancing a number of plastic goblets on a seesaw with Donald and Will balancing and Baron and Ruben stacking the goblets while wearing inner tubes from neck to foot. But thier numerous attempts to do so failed and eventually they ran out of time.

Also on Day 21, after Zara was evicted from the House, the housemates suddenly came to the aid of Peggy, the pig they were nursing as part of their Season-Long Task, as the sow had given birth to a total of ten piglets, nine alive and one stillborn.

Week 4

On Day 22, the housemates christened Peggy's nine live piglets, even giving them names such as "Posh," "Sweet," and "B-Boy" to mention a few.

Also on Day 22, Ethel after being nominated for eviction, expressed her desire to make an exit, citing Peggy's birth, as well as her family, as the reason. Ethel was unaware that Gaby was given time to decide whether she would make an exit to attend a seminar in the United States or not. The next night, Gaby ultimately decided to make the exit and attend the said seminar.

On Day 23, the third HOH competition was held involving human bowling pins and a swinging bowling ball. Usually, nominees for eviction cannot compete. But Gaby, the Geisler brothers, Ethel and Victor also competed, the last four being unaware of Gaby's impending decision to exit. The Geisler brothers, represented by Donald, won the title of HOH. The brothers decided to share their privileges with Yayo because "she deserves it."

Also on Day 23, Ethel, with the help of Ruben, finished a new table using giant pick up sticks from an earlier game. Ethel, who happens to own a furniture selling business, related how the said business inspired her to make the table. Big Brother not only lauded the new table; he also made it the new living room center table to replace the glass one smashed by Baron. Along with the new table was the return of the remaining good tables in the House.

On Day 25, Ethel was already talking to Yayo about the possibility of having a baby while being inside the House after seeing her stomach bulge a little. This is why Ethel requested a home pregnancy test from Big Brother to confirm this possibility. The next day, when she had her test, it came out negative.

Also, on the night of Day 25, Ethel, with the help of Jon, completed a funeral flower arrangement without getting off the covered spa. As a result, not only did she read the rest of the letter from her loved ones but also received the news of the death of Jon's favorite aunt a day before. Jon, who was deeply distraught over the news, temporarily left the House on the wee hours of Day 26 to visit his aunt's funeral, personally offer the flower arrangement he helped Ethel make, and pay his last respects to her. It was already morning when he returned to the House.

On the wee hours of Day 27, the housemates picked straws to choose which of them would leave the House temporarily. Victor, Mcoy, Riza, Gaby, and Megan picked the short straws and were sent by Big Brother to the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center to dance The Breakfast Club's Rico Mambo with its inmates. The said inmates became popular in the internet after videos of them dancing Thriller and the Algorithm March were posted on the video sharing site YouTube. The five returned to the House in the afternoon.

On the night of Day 27, Jon, while blindfolded, had a 100-second encounter with his mother. This visit was the reason why Jon did not receive anything from Kris four days before when everyone else receive letters and gifts from her.

Aside from the Weekly Tasks, the Housemates are also engaged in a Season-Long Task. This task involves monitoring, nursing, and taking care of a pregnant sow who is about give birth to piglets.

  • Template:Fnb Though successful, the glass goblet and the candelabra that was broken by Baron and Mariel, respectively, was subtracted from their budget (P 500 and P 2,500 for a total of P 3,000).
  • Template:Fnb Big Brother suggested the 100% bet so the housemates could organize a birthday party for Mcoy on Day 21 should they win.
  • Template:Fnb Though successful, the articles broken during the week (the living room table and the chandelier in the men's bedroom) meant that they had no budget for the next week's groceries. Furthermore, an effort to save the budget (and Ruben and Baron's necks) also failed.

Head of Household

A new twist introduced in this edition is the Head of Household (HOH). The housemate who holds this title has privileges and roles that are distinctly different from HouseGuests who hold the same title in the US version. The privileges and roles bestowed on the HOH are:

  • The use of the special shower room, as well as picking a housemate who would use it as well. In the fourth week, the privilege of watching a movie and the use of a spa menu were added.
  • Immunity from being nominated in the next nomination round.
  • The power to automatically nominate a housemate for eviction.
  • Has a specific perk that is related to his/her personality or profession outside the House.

Every week, an HOH competition is held to determine the housemate who would hold the title. In case one-half of a 2-in-1 Housemate wins the title, the other half earns the title as well. But only one of the two partners can compete and they can decide who should compete. Nominees for eviction are usually exempted to compete.

In the third competition, however, the nominees for eviction were allowed to compete, but in the case the winner gets evicted at the end of the week, the runner-up of the game takes over as HOH. Allowing the nominees for eviction to compete was made possible because of a special case involving Gaby (see Nomination history notes below).

Nomination history

The housemate first mentioned in each nomination gets two points, while the second gets one point. In the case of the two pairs known as "2-in-1 Housemates," the Housemate actually nominated is named first, with the color of the text denoting the pair: blue text for the Geisler brothers and pink text for Jen and Marylaine.

As stated earlier, the HOH makes an automatic nomination any other housemate. The housemate named by the HOH is the only one to be named and as denoted is automatically nominated for eviction.

Houseguests are also allowed to nominate fellow housemates, just to give them a feel of being in the House. However, nominations made by and nomination points bestowed upon a houseguest are not counted towards the vote count.

Template:FnbBaron and Jen, who were the only ones who had yet to know about the "2-in-1 Housemates" twist, were unknowingly the ones who nominated for their respective partners, Donald and Marylaine respectively. Of course, Donald and Marylaine, who along with most of the other housemates knew of the twist by the end of the week, did not nominate anyone.
Template:FnbDonald made the nominations in the behalf of himself and his brother. Meanwhile, Ethel, being the HOH, named Megan for automatic nomination.
Template:FnbAlthough nominations were already announced on Day 22, Big Brother informed Gaby about a seminar in the state of Arizona in the United States that she told Big Brother she would attend. Since the said seminar would last three days, more than the 24 hours allowed by Big Brother, she was asked to decide whether to attend the seminar or not. The next day, Gaby ultimately decided to make a voluntary exit, nulling the nomination result. She would make her exit on Day 28. As a side note for the nomination round, Baron made the nominations for himself and his brother.
