Barton-Le-Clay is a medium sized village in the south of Bedfordshire,UK located at grid reference TL082310. A new estate has recently been built adding to the size of Barton. Barton has been around for quite a while and is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Location

The yellow dot marks where Barton-Le-Clay is.

Barton-Le-Clay is on the outskirts of South Bedfordshire between Bedford and Luton. Nearby villages include Sharpenhoe, Silsoe, Westoning and Pulloxhill. The A6 which runs from Luton bypasses Barton and continues past Bedford all the way to Carlisle. The bypass was constructed in January 1990.

Barton Hills

To the south-east of Barton there is a large hill at the bottom of which is a spring that is the start of a river. During the summer Dartmoor ponies roam the hills. Barton Hills are part of the Chilterns and many people come from all around the area to see them. Special paths run throughout the hills and maps of the route are shown at the entrance to the hills. Gates are in place to ensure that the wildlife on the hills do not escape.
