Club Atlético Sorocaba is a college sports city of Sorocaba, founded on 21 February 1991. It has as its colors yellow and red, resulting flag sorocabana.
Despite being a young club, founded in 1993, already has a lot of history, having in its curriculum stakes in two editions of the main division of the Paulista ChampionshipCampeonato Paulista, in an edition of the Brazil Cup in 2009, and several times also be present in the Series C of the Brazilian Championship.
With good investments in the youth, in 2009 the first Zico managed to reach the quarter-final of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Junior.
Currently a professional team to dispute the Série A1 do Campeonato Paulista de Futebol e a Copa Paulista de Futebol.
History
The club was founded on February 21, 1991 by the entrepreneur João Caracante Filho as a basketball club.[1] Atlético Sorocaba became a football club on March 15, 1993 after they fused with Clube Atlético Barcelona and Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana Futebol Clube.[1]
Atlético Sorocaba competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, and 2004.[2] The club's best performances was in 1996, when they reached the third stage of the competition.[3]
Atlético Sorocaba won the Copa Paulista de Futebol on November 29, 2008, after beating XV de Piracicaba in the final, at Estádio Barão de Serra Negra, Piracicaba, home of the opposing side.[4] The club also competed in the same season's Recopa Sul-Brasileira.[5] After beating Pelotas 2–0 in the semifinal,[6] Atlético Sorocaba was defeated 1–0 by Brusque in the Recopa Sul-Brasileira final.[7]
