The Eurovision Dance Contest is a planned entertainment co-production between the EBU and the BBC. The first ever pan-European dance compition will be held on 1 September, 2007 in London, United Kingdom with the participation of at least 13 other national broadcasters. Viewers at home will get a chance to cast their votes by televote and SMS voting on the two dance pieces performed by each couple, the first being a ballroom or Latin dance, while the second being a freestyle dance, incorporating a national flavour.

The Croatian broadcaster HRT had expressed an interest in taking part, but pulled out due to costs and scheduling problems.[citation needed]
The contest will be broadcast in English and may be broadcast in another unconfirmed language (originally thought to be French however France has not expressed interest in taking part). Each broadcaster will also have the option of providing commentators at the event in special commentary boxes located in sight of the stage.
