Chris Lane (born in Kernersville, North Carolina[1]) is an American country music singer-songwriter.

Career

Before pursuing a solo career, Lane fronted the Chris Lane Band.[2] Their album Let's Ride charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in 2012.[3] Lane has opened for The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Chris Young and Brantley Gilbert, among others.[4] In 2014, he opened for Florida Georgia Line on their This Is How We Roll tour.[5][6]

Lane's debut single, "Broken Windshield View", was released to country radio on June 10, 2014 via Big Loud Mountain.[4] The song was written by Rodney Clawson, Shane Minor and David Lee Murphy and produced by Joey Moi.[1][7] It was featured on Sirius XM's The Highway and iTunes' New and Noteworthy.[4] It sold 11,000 downloads in its first week of release[8] and debuted at number 45 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.[9] As of August 2014 it has sold 43,000 downloads.[10][11] It will be included on an upcoming extended play.[1][7]

Markos Papadatos of Digital Journal gave the song four stars out of five, saying that it is "reminiscent of Florida Georgia Line meets Dierks Bentley". He wrote that "it has a great deal of energy, and it is fun and radio-friendly, with a rock vibe to it."[4] Taste of Country wrote that Lane "shows vocal range" on the song and called his style "less aggressive than that of [Florida Georgia Line]."[2] A music video for "Broken Windshield View" was filmed in Lane's hometown and premiered on CMT in August 2014.[10][12] It was directed by Robert Hales.[11][12]
