Brad Schimel

John Byron "J.B." Van Hollen (born February 19, 1966) is the District Attorney of Waukesha County, Wisconsin and the Attorney General-elect of the State of Wisconsin. A Republican, he was elected to the office on November 4, 2014 and will take office in January 2015, succeeding Republican J.B. Van Hollen.
Background
Schimel earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1990) and is a graduate of Mukwonago High School and holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1987). He began his career as a prosecutor in 1990 when he joined the Waukesha County District Attorney’s office. In, 2006 Schimel was elected Waukesha County District Attorney.
In 2011, Brad was appointed to serve on the Wisconsin Judicial Council, and in that same year he was appointed to the Wisconsin Crime Victim Council. He currently serves in a leadership capacity as the Secretary. He is a Founding Member of the Waukesha County Victim Impact Panel for intoxicated drivers and President of the Preventing Alcohol-Related Crashes (PARC) Task Force, 2004-2011.
Schimel is an instructor in the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Department at Waukesha County Technical College and is a former adjunct instructor at Concordia University.
Attorney general
On October 7, 2013, J.B. Van Hollen announced he would not seek reelection in 2014 for a third term as state attorney general.[1] Van Hollen endorsed Schimel to be his replacement.[2]
On the November 4, 2014 general election, Schimel defeated opponent Susan Happ. Schimel has said his priorities are upholding the Constitution, stopping heroin use, fighting internet crimes against children and putting an end to violence against women.[3]
