Cláudio Lembo
Cláudio Salvador Lembo (São Paulo, October 12 1934) is a Brazilian lawyer, politician and university professor. He was elected in 2003 as the deputy (vice-governor) of state governor Dr. Geraldo Alckmin. Following the announcement of Alckmin's candidacy for the presidency of Republic in the incoming general elections of October 2006, Dr. Lembo became governor of São Paulo on March 31, 2006.
Dr. Lembo is full professor and chairman of constitutional law and civil law at Mackenzie Presbyterian University.
Administration
Shortly after Cláudio Lembo became the governor of São Paulo the city underwent a frightening wave of criminal activity led by the Primeiro Comando da Capital, commonly known as PCC. The PCC targeted the city's police, killing as many as 30 policemen in less than a month. The police killed over 100 alleged members of the PCC.
The popularity of Cláudio Lembo has crumbled as a result of the actions of the PCC and he has revealed that he is eager for the last day of his term as interim governor.
Cláudio Lembo blamed the "white rich people" of São Paulo for the criminal uprising, claiming that they didn't do enough to help the poor inhabitants of São Paulo.
