==Early Professional Career==
This page is primarily for informally resolving disputes involving only two editors. If any more complex dispute cannot be resolved through talk page discussion, you can follow the other steps in the [[Wikipedia:Dispute resolution|dispute resolution]] process. The informal nature of the third opinion process is its chief advantage over more formal methods of resolving disputes.
Cleverly made his professional debut in July 2005 with a four round victory over journeyman Ernie Smith at the [[Meadowbank]] Sports Center in [[Edinburgh]] and within a year had compiled a winning ledger of 6-0. His first fight of substance however was in October 2006 when he met Liverpool's [[Tony Quigley]] at the [[MEN Arena]] in [[Manchester]]. The fight which was on the undercard to the match up between [[Joe Calzaghe]] and [[Sakio Bika]] ended in a 5th round stoppage for Cleverly and handed Quigley his first pro defeat.

The next big test for the young prospect took place at the [[Millenium Stadium]] in [[Cardiff]] just over a year later in September 2007 when Cleverly met tough Ugandan [[Joey Vegas]]. Cleverly at that time boasted a record of 10-0 and Vegas 10-1. The fight ended with a gruelling points win over 8 rounds for the [[Welshman]] in what was his toughest fight to date. Speaking about the result to the BBC and referring to the sparring he received in the [[Enzo Calzaghe]] gym, Cleverly said ''"I'm still young and won't be hitting my peak for about eight years, but think how good the wars I'm having in the gym now are doing me for the future...I want to keep on progressing, to go for the British title, then maybe a world crown in a couple of years."'' <ref>[http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/low/boxing/7078017.stm BBC Sport | Cleverly - Following in Calzaghe's footsteps]</ref>
Respondents appreciate feedback about the outcome of the dispute, either on the article's talk page or on their own talk page. We want to know whether the outcome was positive or not and this helps us to maintain and improve the standards of our work.

Cleverly had made a point of fighting on the undercards of his stablemate [[Joe Calzaghe]] with the Vegas fight being one of the prelims to Calzaghes World title unification fight against [[Mikkel Kessler]]. The next stop however was the real Vegas, Las Vegas to support Calzaghes attempt to win [[The Ring Magazine]]'s Light heavyweight belt against American fighter [[Bernard Hopkins]]. Cleverly, fighting outside the UK for the first time as a pro also faced American opposition and beat [[Antonio Baker]] over 8 rounds.<ref>[http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sports/grassroots/rhymney-valley-sport/2008/04/24/boxing-a-winner-like-joe-91466-20808812/ Wales Online | A winner like Joe]</ref>

==Changing Stables==
==How to list a dispute==
In September 2008, the young boxer chose to leave [[Enzo Calzaghe]]'s gym where he had trained throughout his career and begin training at his father's gym in South Wales. Speaking about his decision to leave the gym Cleverly said ''"I have been trained by Enzo Calzaghe for six years since my youth days so leaving him has been one of the hardest decision I've ever had to make...Enzo is largely responsible for where I am in my career and I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me."'' Cleverly had been concerned following the legal wranglings between promoter [[Frank Warren]] and his former stablemate [[Joe Calzaghe]] and added ''"I cannot take any chances with my career...I take boxing very seriously and want to be world champion. Hopefully Frank can sort that out for me".'' <ref>[http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7598818.stm BBC Sport | Cleverly leaves Calzaghe stable]</ref>
Be sure to discuss the dispute on the talk page as the first step in the process '''''before''''' making a request here. If, after discussion, '''only two editors''' are involved, you may list the dispute below in the Active disagreements section. Otherwise, please follow other methods in the dispute resolution process.

==Commonwealth Champion==
Follow these instructions to make your post:
Sort that out he did when in October 2008 Cleverly landed a shot at the vacant Commonwealth light heavyweight title topping the bill for the first time in his career at the [[Everton Park]] Sports Center in [[Liverpool]]. His opponent was the experienced former British champion [[Tony Oakey]] who he beat on points over 12 rounds. Speaking after picking up his first belt Cleverly said ''"What a memorable night for me, winning a title is something I have dreamed of since I was a kid...I have worked hard for this but this is just the start for me - I want to rule the world."'' <ref>[http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7662521.stm BBC Sport | Cleverly wins Commonwealth crown]</ref>

==Providing third opinions==
*Third opinions must be [[Wikipedia:Neutral point of view|neutral]]. If you have previously had dealings with the article or with the editors involved in the dispute which would bias your response, do not offer a third opinion on that dispute.
*Read the arguments of the disputants.
*Do not provide third opinions recklessly. In some cases your opinion is a tie-breaker, while in others both sides may have presented valid arguments, or you may disagree with both.
*Provide third opinions on the disputed article talk pages, not on this page. Sign your comments on the associated talk page as normal, with four ''tildes'', like so: <nowiki>~~~~.</nowiki>
*Write your opinion in a [[Wikipedia:Civility|civil and nonjudgmental]] way.
*Consider keeping pages on which you have given a third opinion on your [[Help:Watching pages|watchlist]] for a few days. Often, articles listed here are watched by very few people.
*If it's not clear what the dispute is, put <tt><nowiki>{{subst:</nowiki>[[template:third opinion|third opinion]]{{!}}''your_username''<nowiki>}}</nowiki></tt> in a new section on the talk page of the article.
*For third opinion requests that do not follow the instructions above, it is possible to alert the requesting party to that fact by employing {{t1|uw-3o}}.
*When providing a third opinion, please ''remove the listing from this page'' and ''mention in the summary which dispute you have removed'' and ''how many remain.'' If this is done before responding, other volunteers are less likely to duplicate your effort.
*Check the article for a {{tl|3O}} tag. Be sure to remove this tag from the article and/or talk page.

Nathan Cleverly is a British professional boxer who currently fights in the Light heavyweight division. He is the current holder of the Commonwealth title for that weight.[1][2]

Early Professional Career

Cleverly made his professional debut in July 2005 with a four round victory over journeyman Ernie Smith at the Meadowbank Sports Center in Edinburgh and within a year had compiled a winning ledger of 6-0. His first fight of substance however was in October 2006 when he met Liverpool's Tony Quigley at the MEN Arena in Manchester. The fight which was on the undercard to the match up between Joe Calzaghe and Sakio Bika ended in a 5th round stoppage for Cleverly and handed Quigley his first pro defeat.

The next big test for the young prospect took place at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff just over a year later in September 2007 when Cleverly met tough Ugandan Joey Vegas. Cleverly at that time boasted a record of 10-0 and Vegas 10-1. The fight ended with a gruelling points win over 8 rounds for the Welshman in what was his toughest fight to date. Speaking about the result to the BBC and referring to the sparring he received in the Enzo Calzaghe gym, Cleverly said "I'm still young and won't be hitting my peak for about eight years, but think how good the wars I'm having in the gym now are doing me for the future...I want to keep on progressing, to go for the British title, then maybe a world crown in a couple of years." [3]

Cleverly had made a point of fighting on the undercards of his stablemate Joe Calzaghe with the Vegas fight being one of the prelims to Calzaghes World title unification fight against Mikkel Kessler. The next stop however was the real Vegas, Las Vegas to support Calzaghes attempt to win The Ring Magazine's Light heavyweight belt against American fighter Bernard Hopkins. Cleverly, fighting outside the UK for the first time as a pro also faced American opposition and beat Antonio Baker over 8 rounds.[4]

Changing Stables

In September 2008, the young boxer chose to leave Enzo Calzaghe's gym where he had trained throughout his career and begin training at his father's gym in South Wales. Speaking about his decision to leave the gym Cleverly said "I have been trained by Enzo Calzaghe for six years since my youth days so leaving him has been one of the hardest decision I've ever had to make...Enzo is largely responsible for where I am in my career and I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me." Cleverly had been concerned following the legal wranglings between promoter Frank Warren and his former stablemate Joe Calzaghe and added "I cannot take any chances with my career...I take boxing very seriously and want to be world champion. Hopefully Frank can sort that out for me". [5]

Commonwealth Champion

Sort that out he did when in October 2008 Cleverly landed a shot at the vacant Commonwealth light heavyweight title topping the bill for the first time in his career at the Everton Park Sports Center in Liverpool. His opponent was the experienced former British champion Tony Oakey who he beat on points over 12 rounds. Speaking after picking up his first belt Cleverly said "What a memorable night for me, winning a title is something I have dreamed of since I was a kid...I have worked hard for this but this is just the start for me - I want to rule the world."
