{{helpme}} On {{esc}} I have been trying to make "...in the Eurovision Song Contest" as the default link on the template, currently it's "...in the Eurovision Contest". However the hard bit is removing the default "Song" and replacing it with "Dance". Example:

While:

{{esc|UK|d=Dance}} should link to  United Kingdom

Try using a named paramater "type" and just put

{{{type|Song}}}

I thought the image would look too plain and it's not the actual heart so people may get confused in what it means, we can't use a flag because it represents the ESC, JESC and EDC, nor the EU flag. A map of Europe and surrounding area would work. Besides the image is just used on WP:Eurovision, there is another which is blank, and used in the Template:Infobox Eurovision.

new infobox

I created Template:Infobox ESC entry (test template) to 1, convert the other one to an easier to manage format, and 2, to make it look nicer when used with {{Infobox Single}}. See Secret Combination (song). Since you are good with templates, can you try to get the entries under "appearance chronology" to be optional? I don't think it works now. You can see my examples of it in use here. What do you think? Is it better than the other one? Greekboy had me change the color so it wouldn't look like the singles box which is kinda what I wanted, but o well.
