Sivaji (Tamil: சிவாஜி; is a 2007 bilingual tamil and telugu film directed by S. Shankar and produced by AVM Productions. Actors Nayantara, Raghuvaran, Rajinikanth, Shriya Saran, Suman and Vivek and star in this film as. The film's score and soundtrack was composed by A.R. Rahman.

It is the costliest Indian film venture to date, with an estimated cost of Rs. 65Crores ($ 16 million).[1]

Plot

Template:Spoiler Sivaji is a Software Systems Architect who returns home after working hard for many years in USA. With a Rs.200 crore budget he wants to setup a charity medical college and hospital. Adiseshan is a politically influential businessman who plots his downfall and Sivaji ends up losing all his money. The rest of the movie revolves around how he starts from scratch to get back his money, resume development of his foundation, and take revenge on Adiseshan.

Production

Voices for all the actors except Shriya were done by themselves. Shankar chose Kanika Subramaniam, another south indian actress to dub Shriya's voice.[1]

Publicity and Release

A pre-teaser trailer was released by CNN-IBN on May 30, 2007 lasting for three minutes.[2] The official trailer was released by AVM to Galatta.com, the official online sponsor and Ayngaran International.[3]. Sivaji was screened in a record 18 theatres in Chennai.[4].

Soundtrack

The soundtrack was released in April 2007 in audio cassette format and CD format. It features seven compositions: Balleilakka, Style, Vaaji Vaaji, Athiradee, Sahana, The Boss and Sahara. The complete soundtrack may be downloaded from Galatta.com. Each song costs Rs. 44 ($ 0.99).[5]
