Past History

During the early 50's, 60's and onward to the late 70's, Alpha was known as "The Bad Boys School" being situated in North Burnaby, not far from a Bikers Clubhouse. This had a very negative impact on the school that included hard core drugs and "Bikers Chain Gangs". Back then, the suedo mission statement of Alpha was "Fit In or Get Out". Many of Alpha's students of "this era" made regular visits with the local police. Later around the early 90's, after the election of a new administration, the school did an "about face" and quickly earned itself a clean reputation that we see today.

Name

The school rarely refers itself as Alpha Secondary School. Only Alpha Secondary, presumably of the acronym. The school is named for the street on which it sits - Alpha Avenue.

It should be noted, that over a period of 20-25 years, Alpha Secondary evolved from a rough, tough learning institute, dating back as far as the 60's to late 70's at the time, known as the school for North Burnaby's Bad Boys and the Alpha Ardvarks. Indeed Alpha Secondary has done an "about face" and we should be proud of our new administration. [citation needed]
