Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder (subtitled The Life and Crimes of Gilles de Rais) is the nineth studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It is a concept album, based on the life of the infamous 15th century French nobleman who fought alongside Joan of Arc and accumulated great wealth before becoming a serial killer, sexual deviant and Satanist, and is planned for release as early as October 25, 2008 by Roadrunner Records. Once again, Doug Bradley provides narration for the album (as with Midian, Nymphetamine and Thornography).
St. Kevin's College, founded 1918, is a private, all-boys primary and secondary school in the Catholic tradition. It has over four campuses, three of which are situated in the suburb of Toorak, as well as Richmond and Silver Creek. St. Kevin's was founded by the Christian Brothers. St Kevin's College is a member of the Associated Public Schools of Victoria.

A special edition containing bonus material has also been confirmed, and will be released on the same day as the standard edition. The title of the album derives from a valediction vocalist Dani Filth once used to sign a letter.
St. Kevin's overlooks Gardiner's Creek, a tributary that runs into the Yarra River, with Scotch College on creek's opposite side. The College has a long standing tradition with the historic St. Patrick's Cathedral, and is responsible for the choral voices.

Recording and production
St. Kevin's College, Toorak has a long standing tradition with Loreto Mandeville Hall with whom they established an ELC Centre, St. Peters. The College also has a strong establishment with fellow independent schools Korowa Anglican Girls' School and St. Catherine's School.
The album is produced by Sabbat guitarist Andy Sneap, who previously worked with Cradle of Filth while mixing the band's 2006 album, Thornography.

History
In 1918, the College was situated on Albert Street, East Melbourne, and served as a boys matriculation college. In 1932, the school was moved to the corner of St. Georges and Orrong Roads, Toorak. Property in Heyington was purchased and developed into playing fields. The Heyington Property is now the Senior School Campus, housing Years 7 to 8, and Years 10 through to year 12, in a vertical house system.

Promotion
The Heyington Campus was built in 1960, notably the Kearney Building, which is visible on the approach from the Glen Waverley railway line. The Lansell Road property was opened in 1972, and that same year the Orrong road property was sold. In 1982, the K.C. Smith building was constructed for the middle school years on the Senior Campus, and in 1990 the Pavilion was opened. Since its opening, the Pavilion has flooded twice, both in 2005. Ovals one and two were completely submerged, resembling flooded school foyers in the 1970s.
The track "Tragic Kingdom", was made available for free download by Roadrunner Records on August 27, 2008. 30-second samples of each track on the album were made available on amazon.de on September 27.

The McCarthy Building was opened in 1997, housing Art Studios, the Campus Library and the Administration Block. The Lansell Road property is now home to the Glendalough Campus, and in 1999 became a full primary school, housing prep to grade 6 students. Also in 1999, Year 9 students moved from the Senior Campus to a dedicated campus named Waterford in Balaclava. ==Waterford==
St Kevin’s Year 9 campus is dedicated to making the passage of boys through adolescence as successful as possible. Having a place by themselves where they are significant and have responsibilities which would not be available in the full school is a important factor in the success of this campus. Also important is that the Year 9 boys on this campus have a group of teachers dedicated to them and their needs.
Waterford is situated on Richmond Hill and occupies the facilities of the former [Vaucluse College FCJ|Vaucluse College]]. This is a delightful environment. It is only two train stops from Heyington and allows easy access to sporting facilities and music ensembles.

Special to the Waterford program is the extended Outdoor Education experience which forms a rite of passage and takes the boys to that confident young manhood where they can meet challenges and team effectively together. Likewise, a program of active engagement with historical, cultural and other significant institutions of the City of Melbourne is central to the program.

The adolescent years are a time of intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual change. The special experiences at Waterford are crafted to make these changes positive. The academic and other expectations of the College are maintained so that it is a year of academic and personal development in which the foundations for a successful VCE are laid.

Co-curricular activities
St. Kevin's College students participate in a range of activities outside the curriculum. These include:

Christian living camp
In Year 11, a three day program is conducted with the St. Kevin's students and Year 11 girls from either Loreto Mandeville Hall or Korowa Anglican Girls' School. This program is designed to further enhance the students understandings about various aspects of life, as well as learning about things from the point of view of students of the opposite sex.

Drama
Extracurricular drama includes musicals with other schools, including Loreto Mandeville Hall, Korowa Anglican Girls' School, St Catherine's School, Toorak and Genazzano FCJ College. VCE Theatre Studies offers involvement in direction, dramaturgy, stage management, set design, costume, lighting, properties, make-up and sound.

Debating
St. Kevin's hosts and participates in the Debating Association of Victoria (DAV) League. In most St. Kevin's reaches the finals series, and most recently in 2003 were DAV Champions.

Kevinian
The Kevinian, first established in 1935, was a regulated school newspaper relying on student submissions. The Kevinian was often largely comprised of editorial input, and notable features included Teacherisms, Opinion articles and satirical photo captions. The newspaper had been published sporadically in recent years and was discontinued entirely in 2007.

Aviation
St Kevin's College offers an aviation program to its students, and is the only secondary school in Australia that to offer students the opportunity to earn a pilot's licence by the time they graduate.

Music
All students from grades Prep to 6 are required to learn a string or wind instrument for at least one year. A full range of brass, woodwind, percussion and vocal musical genres are available.

The music department holds musical programmes that include performances, camps and tours. St. Kevin's is also the home to the St Patrick's Cathedral Choir. Alternative music concerts and performances include 'Lunchstock' - a gathering of school bands and performers during lunch breaks. The rigorous music programme also allows students the opportunity to perform at premier venues such as Hamer Hall, the Victorian Arts Centre, Robert Blackwood Hall and BMW Edge Federation Square, as well as music tours to Canberra.

The annual musical with Loreto Mandeville Hall, performed in one of the St. Kevin's theatres, and the bi-annual musical with Korowa Anglican Girls' School are performed to a high standard.

Outdoor education
The OAP (Outdoors Activities Programme) originally replaced a Military Cadets Programme after World War II. The OAP is run on the College's private campsite at Silver Creek, set on 55 acre of the Mount Disappointment State Forest, 70 kilometres north of Melbourne. Years 3 to 11 are involved in the programmes, including a nine day trek and raft through the Victorian High Country. Activities that are offered include, rock climbing, surfing, canoeing, rafting, orienteering, bushwalking, cycle touring, cross country skiing and horse back riding.

Student Leadership
Leadership roles are offered to Yr 12 Prefects and Officers. Following student and teacher votes, these students attend a leadership camp at Silver Creek. Each class in the junior levels is assigned a leader who visits on a weekly basis. Students in the houses are elected to the House Commitie and organise house fundraising and activities.

Sport
Summer sports include badminton, rowing, cricket, tennis, swimming, table tennis, diving, squash, lawn bowls, volleyball and martial arts(Year 7 currently(2008)). Winter sports include Australian rules football, rugby union, soccer, basketball, field hockey, table tennis and cross country. Athletics and water polo are offered during the spring. All students participate in weekend sport competitions. Training for sport occurs after and before school hours, up to three times a week for various sports, such as rugby, and up to eight times a week for rowing.

The rugby, basketball and cricket teams have won numerous championships in the Associated Public Schools of Victoria Sporting league as well as on a National Level. The school has recently won premierships in Squash (2005,2007), Rugby (2005,2007), Cross Country (2006,2007) and Basketball (2007). The college also won the APS Athletics premiership in 2006 and 2007. In doing so, it ended Caulfield Grammar School's APS record of twelve consecutive premierships. The College's rowing 1st VIII recently came 4th at the 2008 Head of the River. This broke a 20 year A Final drought, with the last placing in A final being in 1988.

Community Service
As part of unholding the value of "fullness of life" of the College, a number of initiatives are conducted. This aspect of co-curricular life is founded on the notion of being a person for others, rather than indulging in a life of privilege. Such initiatives include compulsory community service of two hours a week as part of the academic program, as well as "street retreats", tutoring to the disadvantages, St. Vincent de Paul Society and "Star Camps" conduced in collaboration with fellow Catholic schools, Xavier College, Genazzano FCJ College and Loreto Mandeville Hall.

A special edition containing bonus material has also been confirmed, and will be released on the same day as the standard edition.[1] The title of the album derives from a valediction vocalist Dani Filth once used to sign a letter.[1]

Recording and production

The album is produced by Sabbat guitarist Andy Sneap, who previously worked with Cradle of Filth while mixing the band's 2006 album, Thornography.

The band's official message boards recently revealed parts of an interview with guitarist Paul Allender, conducted by MédiaMatinQuébec: "We already have four new songs ready and I have to say that they are... much faster than the songs on Thornography. [They] sound like old Cradle of Filth... A mixture of Midian and Dusk. . ." The interview goes on to state that the album will be followed by a European and American tour. Dani Filth has described the album as, "our most extreme, dramatic and deeply disturbing album to date. The legend of Gilles de Rais has been given fresh, vampyrical life in this conceptual meisterwerk, swathed in pitch-black magic and a viciousness unsurpassed in the annals of Cradle history. Screw what our detractors say, everyone who has heard this album has bruised their jaws on the pentagram-bejewelled floor."[2]

In an interview with Blistering.com, Filth revealed that three additional songs were recorded during the album sessions, among them an instrumental piece and a cover of Celtic Frost's "Into the Crypts of Rays".[1] On the topic of their absence from the album, Filth has stated that they "were taken out so that the album wasn't too long. They'll turn up somewhere."[1] They have since been confirmed for the special edition.
