Andrea Haugen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrea Haugen (born Andrea Meyer ; also: Andrea "Nebel" Haugen ) is a musician and author who uses the pseudonym Nebelhexë today. She often deals with decadent and esoteric issues. Haugen was married to Tomas Thormodsæter "Samoth" Haugen from the band Emperor and has a daughter. She is resident in Norway and England.

Career

Andrea Haugen comes from Northern Germany. Because of her predilection for British pop , post-punk , gothic and new wave music, she moved to London in 1990 . There she wanted to make a career as a model , but found the modeling scene to be superficial and turned away from it. There they lived for two years in occupied houses . There she also studied esoteric topics and the mysteries of life, made contact with various magical, pagan and witch circles and joined various esoteric and occult groups in London, such as the Illuminati of Thanateros and the Ordo Templi Orientis , and became a member the Church of Satan . She was working as a fetish model at the time and began her musical career as a background singer for the dark metal band Cradle of Filth . On a tour with the band she met Samoth , who she later married and with whom she has a daughter. They are now divorced, but she still bears his real surname.

At first Haugen composed music in the style of Death in June , then she planned to form a black metal band, but gave up because she found the guttural vocals difficult. From 1994 she had success with the dark ambient project Aghast . As a result of her contacts to the London Neofolk scene with people like Ian Read ( Fire + Ice ), Tony Wakeford ( Sol Invictus ), Boyd Rice (NON) and David Tibet ( Current 93 ), she founded this scene and hers in 1996 represented occult philosophy inspired the project Hagalaz 'Runedance . Since she had moved to Norway, she dealt with Nordic, Celtic and medieval musical as well as Nordic magical traditions, while her previous environment played metal and ambient . She also wrote her book The Ancient Fires of Midgard about it . Hagalaz 'run dance gained international popularity and chart placements. She also published the magazine Horde of Hagalaz , “'the voice of the Nordic witches, warlocks and warriors' to express the 'myths and magic of the cold, Nordic, pagan soil and the knowledge of the dark side of human nature' “ Says Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke . However , she told the Terrorizer that she did not have her roots in traditional music and that she did not feel spiritually connected to these people ; for the same reason she turned away from the Ásatrú scene. With Hagalaz's Runedance she wanted to show that old instruments are not tied to the past but are timeless; it was not about her life in the past.

At this point she finished Hagalaz 'run dance and created her music from 2002 under her stage name Nebelhexë . She has since also worked on video and film manuscripts. She wrote the horror manuscripts The Grandmother and Behind the Mirrors for director Phil Burtham and the short film Torture Is No Culture .

Andrea Haugen has been writing surrealist stories, poems and socially critical articles since 1995. At times she also wrote humorous articles from everyday life , including for the Norwegian newspaper Rimfrost. Her upcoming book Walking With the Night explores topics such as the darker side of life, vampire myths, modern spirituality and humorous stories from her unusual life.

In 2009 Haugen sang the Nina Hagen cover Don't Kill the Animals together with the American musician Jarboe . Any excess should go to the animal group PETA .

Haugen sees her future in writing film music and film manuscripts and hopes to be in front of the camera again.

Haugen announced that she would publish future albums under the name Andréa Nebel and not as Nebelhexë, and that she wanted to revive her project Aghast. She is also supposed to contribute to the soundtrack of the planned film adaptation of Lords of Chaos , in which her friend, actor Jackson Rathbone, will also participate.

In 2010, Haugen announced a new dark ambient project called Aghast Manor. With this she creates dark ambient soundtracks that are suitable for use as film music . In May 2012 Andrea Haugen (who now calls herself Andréa Nebel) announced that she had sold a composition to the film company Summit Entertainment and that she would appear at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen on May 27, 2012 . However, she was not part of the regular program of the WGT, where she appeared veiled at the appearance of Hekate and played DecaDemons from the Aghast Manor album Gaslights .
