Using this page

For articles that need deletion, add {{deletebecause|Reason.}} or {{db|Reason.}} to the top of the page. You should not wipe out the contents as it helps to check the contents to be deleted without having to look at the page history. This expands to:

Replace Reason with the reason why the page should be deleted under the speedy deletion criteria.

Other templates available that give a reason include {{nonsense}} and {{db-bio}}. They may be used where appropriate.

(You can also use {{delete}} or {{d}} if you prefer not to provide a reason, but it is generally a good idea to provide a reason, even where it seems "obvious" to you.)

Advice for administrators

Deletion of Redirects

I have redirected a page called "Daisy_Louisa_De_Melker" to one called "Daisy_de_Melker", as that is how this person is known. My problem is that in the search box, if one types in "Daisy de Melker" one doesn't go straight to that page, but get offered three options of pages with possible info on this person. If one types in "Daisy_Louisa_De_Melker" however, one gets redirected to the correct page. Both pages are identical. The correct search term should be 'Daisy de Melker'. If someone would like to discuss the criteria for the inclusion of IWDN into Wikipedia, I'd be happy to do so. I saw the Candidate for Speedy Deletion tag on it and saw deletion had taken place, though I could not find any discussion or even a brief explanation for what criterion was not met, unless it has to do with significance. If this is the case, I'm not entirely sure the best way to assert the significance of the IWDN community without sounding like I'm doing a whole lot of horn-blowing, which is not my intent at all.

IWDN is cetainly not fictitious, and it takes only a cursory perusal of its contents to see that its impact on the development industry is far from insignificant, from the communal problem solving that takes place, to the articles members post, much of which involves a good degree of original thought, all of which is done with absolutely no compensation, either on an individual member level or a site level (if commercial gain is in question with this entry).

What information is missing from the entry that would fill in whatever gaps wree cause for deletion?

Marc Ecko

I'm not the author of this page nor do I know a tremendous amount about Marc Ecko, so I can't vouch for the explanation on the talk page saying that article was copied from his website. However, the reason given for speedy deletion, "self promotion stunt", I believe is wrong. Ecko has a following which includes a popular, although poorly received, video game (here's the Amazon link [2]) and clothing line (another Amazon link for an example [3]) . He was also in the news this weekend due to an eliborate Internet hoax regarding Air Force One [4]. Again, I can't vouch for the article or add anything new regarding Ecko, but I question the reasoning behind the speedy delete.--Ataricodfish 16:05, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

I think it's more a case of being non-notable (e.g. we do not have an article for Natasha Szmidt et al and google search for Kurshamidoonickilineboonikins just returns a few deviant art pages) and self-promotion rather than nonsense per se. Shiroi Hane 20:06, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

• Not sure if there's a valid speedy here, but this is such an obvious deletion candidate. Non-notable, original research, vanity, Wikipedia is not a free webhost, vanispamcruftisement, whatever. The image, which has been released as PD, is watermarked "copyright natasha szmidt" with cheshirecat's deviantart URL. Real Social Dynamics

As you can see from the page itself, this article is one of a series. I created this new page - if you look at my contributions, you'll see I've been very active in trying to grow and maintain the Seduction Community pages, and have worked on most of the related pages. So from this angle, I'd like to make a case that the page isn't spam - I'd say I'm pretty believably not working for Real Social Dynamics, given the amount of work I've put in to growing their competitors pages.

The article is, however, a crap stub. Give me a little while to build it up with help from the other editors. Cheers!

Fair use album covers. Yes, they are controversial, but should they be censored by Wikipedia? I believe there should be discussion of whether or not their use is justified, rather than speedy deletion. Kaldari 06:04, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I suppose the reason the images were proposed for deletion was that the images-- particularly the Scorpions cover-- border on kiddie porn. Considering that (according to the article) the Scorpion cover was replaced in a number of subsequent issues, it wouldn't necessarily hurt to use the current cover image instead of the original. WP does need to comply with Florida state law, and I suspect that the only reason that image could conceivably survive review is because it was slapped on an album cover, and prudentially I don't think Wikipedia should strive to become a First Amendment test case. The First Amendment does not cover obscenity, and a provocative photo of an actual child is the easiest thing in the world to ban. I did a Google search a moment ago, and there are several reports that the cover was banned in the US; I'm not surprised. Kaldari may have a point, that it's more of a debate issue than a speedy deletion issue, though Wikipedia may wish to protect itself on this one and delete first, debate later. This user has made numerous edits to articles such as Go. While generally good, some of these edits are contested, and Saito_Hajime feels strongly enough about them to revert to his own version. I have reworked this content to address the originial objections, and bring it more into line with wiki conventions. I am wide open to being mercilessly edited and am happy to make further revisions as suggested by the editors and wiki community. Also, please consider Patton would compare in many respects with RAD Communications. Patton supplies VoIP equipment to such national telecom carriers as Avantel Mexico, Green Austria, and iNode Switzerland. Patton is well-known among network technicians aand administrators for their countless useful gizmos that solve nasty little interface problems.

Jonathan Morris (author)

This stub was slapped with a deletion order in the midst of my writing it. While I will admit that it's entirely possible that it doesn't live up to the standards necessary for article retention, its necessity stems from the fact that Jonathan Morris was being mislinked across the Doctor Who project to the more famous priest of the same name. Something had to be done to disambiguate the two, and I was making an honest effort to try to relink the various instances of "Jonathan Morris" in the Doctor Who pages to the correct individual. As the talk page for the author has been deleted, I'd appreciate any comments on how to bring the stub up to standards, here. FWIW, this is my first article about a person, and even basic details about the author are proving somewhat elusive. Wikipedia is not for giving information about up and coming bands. Please see WP:WWIN. It is an encyclopaedia. Bands that have become notable are included. If you can provide documented evidence that the band is notable, I'd like to see it. Stifle (talk) 17:22, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Daniel Hollen Enterprises

It says it is a non-notable company, this is only because i have not made it notable, it's just a local company, without an internet sight or anything. No one delete it.

Dare Obasanjo

New Wikipedian Terrestrian seems quite intent on getting this one article deleted. Dare Obasanjo is notable for two things: he is a son of present Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo -- which was mentioned in that article until Terrestrian deleted it, describing the inclusion of that information as "shameless self-advertising". Obasanjo is also a well-known Microsoft employee, being part of the XML group there, amongst other things. He's also produced software -- RSS Bandit, which, while not well-described on Wikipedia, is fairly well known. "Dare Obasanjo" returns over 800,000 google hits. His personal site has an 85k Alexa rating. "RSS Bandit", over 400,000 google hits; Alexa is 75k on its homepage. There are many less noteworthy and less known people with better articles on Wikipedia; yes, the article needs some work (it didn't help that it didn't have any categorization until very recently), but if this gets deleted now, someone's just going to end up reinstating it down the line anyhow. Chess biographies of Ali Nihat Yazici, Geoffrey Borg, and Julio César Ingolotti.

User:Phr made a request for speedy deletion of these three chess biographies and they were all deleted within a matter of a few minutes before anybody had a chance to react. These are all very well known people both in chess and in their own countries. All of them are the presidents of the chess federations of their respective countries. In no way can they be considered non-notable. Please note that User:Phr has a long history of vandalizing almost every biography I post about chess. Sam Sloan 05:09, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

These pages were all copied from campaign biographies at [5], a site for FIDE officer candidates that Sloan is trying to turn Wikipedia into a PR outlet for. The first such article Sloan pasted into Wikipedia without attribution was Panupand Vijjuprabha and I did a full AfD nomination at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Panupand_Vijjuprabha. After that article was speedied based on CSD A8, I nominated the others for speedy as they appeared based on their similarity with the already-speedied earlier article. I defer to the admins on what best to do with them but my view is that these people are non-notable, and that Wikipedia is not an appropriate venue for political campaigning. Yazici is notable as the organizer of a multitude of FIDE official tournaments (such as the European championships, junior championships...). Borg is the secretary of the Mediterranean Chess Association. They are all Presidents of their own federations. Copyright vio -- maybe. But non-notable? Five-year plans of Nepal

Harro5 deleted this page claiming copyvio from [6]. The text was public domain from the Library of Congress Country Studies and the article's reference section indicated that. The other page happened to have used the text.--Bkwillwm 23:02, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Spring Thomas

Spring Thomas is well known in the Pornography world and she is mentioned in two wikipedia artichles. I'm sorry, but Pornography is relevant in todays world, like it or not. And i am not part of the industry. Be cool, guys!

Really? Any proof of this? I couldn't find any way she was notable. This Could Work Records

Seiji Kameda

The reason given for this stub's speedy delete is non-notability. I have since expanded its content somewhat, and linked to other articles on Wikipedia, in an attempt to rectify the situation. I'm also going to repost what I wrote on the article's talk page:

Seiji Kameda is a music producer involved with several albums by Do As Infinity, a popular japanese band. Wikipedia pages that link to this article: Break of Dawn (album), New World (album), Do the Best, True Song (album), Gates of Heaven (album), Do The B-Side, etc, copied straight from What links here. The Jenova Project

The Jenova Project is a very popular name in the Metal scene of Bangladesh, and the mysterious nature of the band and its members adds to its popularity. The band has already achieved a kind of celebrity status among "Metal freaks". As for the band not having an album released yet...an album deal has already been signed with a record label called G-Series. The only reason why it hasn't yet been released is rather simple -- all the band members are students, and they are busy with studies, exams and whatnot, and hence the recording sessions have been put on hold until the end of May 2006. This is my own user sub-page. It's not an article on the mainspace. People on the discussion at this part of Hell's talk page told me that it was a good idea to move the list to a personal subpage instead, so I did just that. I'm not exactly sure why this was deleted. Jonathan Burdick is the popular writer for Cinema Fusion (http://www.cinemafusion.com), which gets thousands of hits per day, and is widely spoken and discussed about on internet message boards and towns across America. Jean Baptiste Sipido

Let's not speedy this. The person and incident described are real and easy to find in Google and I can see a case for this being a notable event. At most this should be an AfD with an appropriate discussion before we delete it. I don't see this being an obvious speedy, maybe all it really needs is to be expanded and improved? Unless there's more that 'interesting' to this guy than this one event, I say delete. I mean, THIS page (Yes, the speedy deletion page) is the number 4 result on Google. Most of the others on the first page are simple one-sentence descriptions. If you can find more information that makes this person notable, then by all means... But otherwise, this deserves to be a footnote in some other article. Heck, I can't even find a (confirmed) birth year or death year. If he's so unimportant that no one recorded when he died, then he's not notable. (I think that's a great new way of deciding if a dead person is notable. This has now been moved from speedy to AfD and survived there. "Jean Baptiste Sipido" right now has only 15 Google hits, when the word "wikipedia" is subtracted from the search, but he turned out to have an eighteen-page biography in the Biographie nationale, the Belgian dictionary of national biography. This is an excellent example of why Google may be of some use in indicating the notability of contemporary people but how completely and utterly useless it is in determining the lack of notability of many historical figures. mad nigger

I say delete the redirect. Nigger is a common slang term, we know that, mad is a common adjective, both are usually pejorative attributes given to people, I don't see what's special about using them together. Plus it's an unnecessarily unfortunate association for "mad nigger" to redirect to the bio of a black man. BigBlueFish 15:08, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Daniel Sergiacomi

This article should not be deleted as he is a local figure that many people are aware of the in region. Many people see him as a good role model for his charity and leadership skills. He should not be deleted as he is a notable person and not many people today are as worthy. The article possibly just needs to expanded and or improved.

Charles Betts Galloway

This article should not be deleted. Its creator, User:Pastorwayne is doing great work creating dozens of articles on Methodist bishops, and this appears to be a stub for one of those -- see the list of bishops at List of Bishops of the United Methodist Church, where "Charles Betts Galloway" is listed and linked.

The stub appears to have been saved prematurely and not tagged as a stub, which is bad practice, but it is almost certainly the start of a genuine article. A quick look at User:Pastorwayne's contrib history will show what he is doing. --BrownHairedGirl 17:51, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Johnson, Christopher Amos

Do not delete this article please. It is in progress. Knowing Christopher Amos Johnson personally, he has done quite a bit of work in reviving the importance of the Pipe Organ. He has competed and won approximately a dozen competitions and is nationally known amongst the organist community. As his life continues, other people will document important highlights which are relevant to the musical community. Please remove the tag marking it for deletion. I don't think this meets the criteria for a speedy deletion judging by the article for Garth Nix. Perhaps an AfD notice would be better or even Prod. Speedy just seems a bit too quick. Dean Radin

This was nominated for deletion last year, but that was based on a misunderstanding. Dean Radin had written on the Talk page that he holds the copyright for the text in the article, and people thought he had started the Wikipedia article. This entry provides information for a blank entry that has already been created for my name under the 2004 Canadian federal election results in Ottawa. Similar entries exist for other persons who were candidates in this election. Why would there be a blank page entitled "Phil Brown (Politician)" if the person in question is not able to provide some basic biographical information to identify who he is. It is unreasonable to have a candidates in a blank entry on Wikipedia without at least some information. People looking up candidates in previous elections should be able to find out more about them than just a name and a blank entry.

This page shouldn't be deleted because this actress is on six other sites and that should be enough evidence. She's on IMdB even. I think that the people that keep deleting this page should give ample reasoning for why they feel it's vain,etc. because they delete without discussion. Doing that with other pages(without discussion), will truely make Wikipedia go nowhere in development. I don't believe that this page should be deleted. This is a page to fill in an open link from the Homeschooling page. It is designed to fill in information on both the woman and on her educational philosophy which is widely used by the home schooling families. PYCO

This article got deleted recently, with no delete vote, in less than 12 hours . This is annoying as it does not allow ppl to add their thoughts on the issue. PYCO is the explanation of an acronym used frequently in many IRC channels. It is just as notable as many other acronyms here on wikipedia, which alert people to the meanings of acronyms they are not familiar with. The terms existence is able to be confirmed by visiting the website, which is included in the wiki page. Several people have added their support for the pages existence. The article is not incoherent, please look up this words definition. Konigun Ninjutsu

This article has been taken over by someone who refuses to let anyone who doesn't agree with his point of view to make lasting edits to the page. Every time someone changes something, he changes it back within the hour. He has created "rules" for the discussion, and routinely edits posts made by other people on the discussion page WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT. The entire article is speculation by people who don't know anything about the topic, and it is all unverifiable. Some of the people in question are in the middle of civil litigation because of their actions on Wikipedia and other internet forums, so the article should at least be deleted until the legal matters are resolved. The entire article is slanderous and false, and the user TrueGamerOmega is almost singlehandedly assuring that it remains so. Myself and several other people have tried again and again to fix the article, even making it represent both points of view, but again and again it gets changed back to only represent TrueGamerOmega's views. This should not be speedy deleted. Despite concerns about the game being unverifiable, a new source much better than all previous sources has been discovered. Furthermore, there is not strong "consensus" about The Game; every AfD debate has been pretty well split, as has the deletion review debate. This article should not be deleted as the subject in question is relevant to the Village life in Stamford Bridge as a TV personallity that is visible to visitors to the village. This article is not self promoting. Instresting to note that within seconds of the page been flagged for speedy delete and me posting the original entry here TigerShark has deleted it. Looking at the deletion log, along with loads of other entries over the last hour or so... not even giving an opportunity to modify/change. The bulk of the text was taken from a site containing no copyright information, the reason given for the deletion 'breach of copyright' !!!

As the author of the article, the main thing that was not taken into concideration, was the fact that the article was not yet completed, but just deleted regardless.

Takashi Kushida

This page should not be deleted. Takashi Kushida is a prominent Japanese Aikidoka, who studied directly under Gozo Shioda. He is the founder of Aikido Yoshokai, an is well respected in the Aikido Yoshokai community, especially in North America. He's still actively teaching Aikido at a dojo in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This is a worthwhile addition... the site is visited by thousands daily, and monthly downloads are in the thousands of gigabytes.

It is a spoof site, low Alexa rank and hits, and since the person doesn't seem to display legitimate Tourette syndrome, it is construed as an attack site by persons with TS.
