Library of Congress Country Studies

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Country Studies (German: Länderstudien ) are works that are published by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress of the United States and are dedicated to public use ( public domain ). No copyright is claimed, so they are freely available for research and copies. However, this does not apply to all of the images used there.

The country studies are descriptions and analyzes of the historical situation and the social, economic, political and national security systems and institutions of countries all over the world. The series examines the relationships between these systems and the way in which they are shaped by cultural factors.

The books stand for the authors' analysis and are not to be understood as an official position of a US government. Rather, the aim is to meet the recognized standards of scientific objectivity.

Online information on the Country Studies website is freely and without restriction available for research. Printed copies of all studies (with the exception of the regional studies of Macau and Afghanistan) can be ordered through an online bookstore from the Superintendent of Documents of the United States Government Printing Office .
