(24665) Tolerantia is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 8, 1988 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .
The asteroid is named after the Latin word for tolerance .
