(3258) Somnium is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 8, 1983 by the Swiss astronomer Paul Wild from the Zimmerwald Observatory at the University of Bern .

The asteroid is named after Johannes Kepler's book Somnium (The Dream).
