Ágúst Þór Jóhannsson (born February 19, 1977 ) is an Icelandic handball coach .

Ágúst Þór Jóhannsson trained the men's team from Grótta until 2009 and then took over the Norwegian women's first division club Levanger HK . From 2011 he also coached the Icelandic women's handball team , which under his leadership took 12th place at the World Cup and 15th place at the 2012 European Championship . In March 2012 he was released from his duties at Levanger HK. Ágúst Þór Jóhannsson coached the Danish women's first division club SønderjyskE Håndbold from July 2013 to February 2014 . From 2014 he trained Víkingur Reykjavík for two years . In 2016, Ágúst Þór Jóhannsson ended his coaching work for the Icelandic national team.

Ágúst Þór Jóhannsson coached the KR Reykjavík men's team in the 2016/17 season . He then took over the coaching of the women's team from Valur Reykjavík . Since August 2018 he has also been coaching the Faroese national handball team .
