Ágnes Szakály

Ágnes Szakály (born March 14, 1951 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian cimbalom player .

Life

Szakály studied cimbalom with Ida Tarjáni Tóth at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. In 1974 she successfully completed her studies there.

She then worked as a soloist, in a duo with other cimbalom players such as Márta Fábián or Rózsa Farkas and as an orchestral musician. Szakály worked with a number of orchestras, including the Orchestra of La Scala , the Berlin Philharmonic , the Vienna Symphony Orchestra , the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra , the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Klangforum Wien , the orchestra of the opera house Teatro La Fenice in Venice , the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of Mexico as well as the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Hungarian Radio Orchestra and the Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra.

Furthermore, Szakály took part in numerous recordings for radio and television as well as record productions.

Appreciation

She has received the Artisjus-díj Prize several times, the Liszt Ferenc-díj Prize in 1993 and an Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 2010 .
