Márta Fábián

Márta Fábián (born April 27, 1946 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian cimbalom player .

Life

Fábián started playing the cimbalom at the age of eight. From 1956 she was a member of the Children's Choir of the Hungarian Radio for several years . She received lessons at the Béla Bartók School of Music in Budapest and then studied cimbalom at the Franz Liszt Music Academy with Ferenc Gerencsér . In 1967 she successfully completed her studies with a diploma. From 1967 to 1973 she worked with the Budapest State Dance Ensemble ( Budapest Táncegyüttes ) and from 1969 as a soloist with the Budapest Chamber Ensemble ( Budapesti Kamaraegyüttes ). In the following time she was to be heard as a guest soloist at various festivals, among others in Darmstadt , Zagreb , Graz , Lucerne , Witten , Warsaw and Paris , where she also worked with the ensemble die reihe . In addition, she also played in small ensembles, such as a duo with guitar or a trio with flute and guitar or with flute and cello . Fábián participated in more than ten record productions.

In addition to classical music, a special focus of her work is on contemporary music, especially from Hungary. The cimbalom part of the composition Éclat / Multiples by Pierre Boulez from 1970 was written especially for Fábián.

Appreciation

She received the Liszt Ferenc-díj Prize in 1979 and the Érdemes Művész Prize in 1988 .
