Álvaro López García (* 1941 ; † December 16, 2019 in Valencia ) was a Spanish astronomer and asteroid discoverer.

He was professor of astronomy at the University in Valencia and director of the University Observatory ( IAU code J96). Together with colleagues he discovered several asteroids .

The asteroid (4657) Lopez was named after him.
