Ángel Francisco Bocos Hernández

Angel Francisco Bocos Hernández OMI (born January 27, 1883 in Ruijas , † November 28, 1936 in Paracuellos de Jarama ) was a Spanish Oblate of the Immaculate Virgin Mary .

Life

On December 31, 1900, he began his novitiate in the Oblate Community. In 1901 he was able to take his first and in 1907 his perpetual vows . He subsequently lived in various Oblate monasteries in Italy, France and Spain. In 1929 he was transferred to the study house in Pozuelo . He and his confreres were arrested by armed militias on July 22nd, 1936 during the Spanish Civil War , but were released on July 25th. He was arrested again on October 15, 1936, and executed on November 28, along with twelve of his confreres.

The beatification of the 22 Spanish martyrs of the Oblates, including Angel Francisco Bocos Hernández, took place on December 17, 2011 in the Cathedral of Madrid .
