Marcelino Sánchez Fernández

Marcelino Sánchez Fernández OMI (born December 30, 1910 in Santa Marina del Rey , † November 28, 1936 in Paracuellos de Jarama ) was a Spanish Oblate of the Immaculate Virgin Mary .

Life

On March 25, 1928, he made his first vows in the religious community of the Oblates. In 1930 he was transferred to the study house in Pozuelo , where he made his perpetual vows in 1935 . After the monastery in Pozuelo was occupied by armed militias on July 22, 1936 during the Spanish Civil War , he belonged to the group of Oblates who were released on July 25. He was soon arrested again and executed on November 28, along with twelve of his confreres.

The beatification of the 22 Spanish martyrs of the Oblates, including Marcelino Sánchez Fernández, took place on December 17, 2011 in the Cathedral of Madrid .

The beatified wafers are: Francisco Esteban Lacal , Vicente Blanco Guadilla , José Vega Riaño, Juan Antonio Pérez Mayo, Gregorio Escobar García , Juan José Caballero Rodríguez , Justo Gil Pardo , Manuel Gutiérrez Martín, Cecilio Vega Domínguez, Publvorio Rodríguez Polvorinos Rodríguez , Juan Pedro Cotillo Fernández , José Guerra Andrés, Justo González Llorente, Serviliano Riaño Herrero, Pascual Aláez Medina, Daniel Gómez Lucas, Clemente Rodríguez Tejerina, Justo Fernández González, Ángel Francisco Bocos Hernández , Eleuterio Prado Villarroel and Marcelino Prado Villarroel.
