Ángel Roberto Seifart

Ángel Roberto Seifart (born September 12, 1941 in Asunción ; † July 2, 2018 ) was a Paraguayan politician of the Asociación Nacional Republicana - Partido Colorado party , who was vice-president between 1993 and 1998.

Life

After attending school, Seifart began studying law and social sciences at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción (UNA), which he graduated in 1966. He was then employed between 1966 and 1967 and then from 1968 to 1974 a judge at a civil court, before he was a member of the appellate court for civil and commercial matters between 1974 and 1977. In 1978 he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies (Cámara de Diputados) and, as such, was Paraguay's delegate in the Latin American Parliament in 1979 (Parlamento Latinoamericano) . Between 1981 and 1987 he was an alternating member of the Central Board of Directors of the government and was a member of this body from 1989 to 1993. In 1989 he was again elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies and was then State Secretary in the Ministry of Education.

From 1990 to 1991, Seifart was Minister for Education and Religion (Ministro de Educación y Culto) in the government of President Andrés Rodríguez . From August 15, 1993 to August 15, 1998, he was Vice President under President Juan Carlos Wasmosy .
