Ángela Salvadores Álvarez (born March 10, 1997 in Oviedo ) is a Spanish basketball player . She is 1.77 m tall and is mostly used as a shooting guard .

career

Ángela Salvadores grew up in the northern Spanish city of León , where she began playing basketball at CD Maristas León at the age of eight . In 2008 she switched to the youth team at CDB Aros , where she played for three years before joining the Segle XXI Academy run by the Spanish Association in Barcelona in the summer of 2011 . In the 2013/14 season, the then 16-year-old Salvadores made her debut in the first team that played in the second division. In the summer of 2014, the Spanish first division club Rivas Ecópolis signed the talented shooting guard . In January 2015, the 17-year-old Salvadores was voted the best U-22 basketball woman of 2014 by FIBA Europe as the youngest player ever . In the Spanish championship she averaged 14.6 points per game in the 2014/15 season, but her club Rivas Ecópolis was only able to reach seventh place.

In November 2014, Ángela Salvadores signed for Duke University , whose basketball team, the Blue Devils , she joined in fall 2015 to play in the NCAA's Atlantic Coast Conference .

National team

Salvadores won gold with Spain at the U-16 European Championships in 2012 and 2013. She finished the latter tournament with 16.7 points as the top scorer and was honored as an MVP . A year later she reached the bronze medal with the Iberians at the U-18 European Championship and silver at the U-17 World Cup, where they and their team only failed in the final with 75:77 at the USA. Salvadores convinced in the final against the Americans with 40 points, finished the tournament with an average of 19.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game and was selected as MVP for her outstanding individual performance. After finishing fourth at the U-19 World Cup in 2015, Salvadores won the gold medal at the U-18 European Championship with Spain that same year. Once again she was honored as the most valuable player of the tournament.
