The Liga Femenina de Baloncesto ( LFB for short ) is the highest league in Spanish women's basketball . It was founded in 1964, is subordinate to the Federación Española de Baloncesto and determines the champion of each season.

mode

The Liga Femenina de Baloncesto will be played in two phases. The first is a round-robin tournament in which each team plays a return match against all other participants. There are two points for a win and one for a defeat. If two or more teams have the same number of points at the end of the regular round, the direct duels, the basket ratio or the higher number of points scored will decide (in this order).

At the end of the round-robin tournament, the four best teams qualify for the play-off . The first placed against the fourth and the second placed against the third. Both the semifinals and the finals are played in " best-of-three " mode, with the team better placed in the basic season enjoying home advantage in the first and, if necessary, third game. The winner of the final series is Spanish champions.

The last placed in the regular season descends in the second-class league Femenina 2 (LF-2 for short).

The placements in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto also serve to determine the Spanish participants in the international EuroLeague and EuroCup competitions .
