Ánimas Island (English; Spanish Isla Ánimas ) is an island of the Pitt Islands in the Biscoe Islands archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is north-northeast of Snodgrass Island .
Argentine scientists on the research vessel Bahía Aguirre mapped them during a research voyage carried out between 1954 and 1955. They named it after a sealer who operated in the waters around Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego in the 19th century . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 2004.
