Árpád Doppler

Árpád Doppler (born June 5, 1857 in Budapest , † August 13, 1927 in Stuttgart ) was a Hungarian-German composer.

Karl Doppler's son studied at the Royal Conservatory for Music in Stuttgart. From 1880 to 1883 he was a teacher at the Grand Conservatory in New York City , then professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Stuttgart. From 1889 he was also choir director and functioning music director at the Royal Court Theater in Stuttgart.

He composed several orchestral works, chamber music pieces for piano, choirs and songs as well as the opera Haligula (1891). His compositional style is at times reminiscent of Edvard Grieg .

His sister Olga Doppler-Alsen was a stage actress. Harry Alsen , also a stage actor, who was married to his brother-in-law.
