Harry Alsen
Harry Alsen , actually Heinrich Zuckmantel , ( April 2, 1866 in Halle an der Saale - April 20, 1919 in Stuttgart ) was a German theater actor as well as the author of plays and a dramaturge .
Life
Alsen, the son of a businessman, started working for a small company in Saxony. He showed talent at a young age and received a modest engagement as a shy lover at this stage as early as 1884 (he had toured Silesia with an ensemble) from Ernst Gettke , then chief director of the Stadttheater in Leipzig. He was only given second roles, but he performed them to the fullest satisfaction. Then we find him in Stettin, from where he was engaged at the German theater in Berlin after a successful guest performance. Alsen also took part in the guest performance of the Deutsches Theater in the theater and music exhibition in Vienna, where he attracted the attention of Hofburg director Max Burckhard and was hired by him for the Vienna Hofbühne from 1893. However, he left the Hofburgtheater because of insufficient employment, followed a call to the Hoftheater Stuttgart and worked there continuously until at least 1914.
Alsen married his colleague Olga Doppler in 1896 , making the composer Karl Doppler his father-in-law and Árpád Doppler , also a composer, his brother-in-law.
