Åke Ohlmarks
Åke Joel Ohlmarks (born June 3, 1911 in Kristianstad , † June 6, 1984 in Crist di Niardo , Italy ) was a Swedish translator , author and religious historian .
From 1941 to 1945 he worked as a lecturer at the University of Greifswald . In 1944, Ohlmarks founded the Institute for Religious Studies in Greifswald together with the theologian Wilhelm Koepp , who sympathized with the Nazis.
An important contribution to research are his studies on the problem of shamanism (Lund 1939).
He translated the Icelandic Eddas into Swedish. His translation of the third part of the Snorra Edda is unmatched .
He also translated Shakespeare (in full), JRR Tolkien , the Koran , Dante , Nostradamus and several other authors into Swedish.
