Wilhelm Koepp

Wilhelm Koepp (born November 1, 1885 in Sopot ; † December 27, 1965 in Kleinmachnow ) was a German theologian and university professor .

Life

Koepp studied Protestant theology and was a historically significant research dissertation to Johann Arndt specialist Systematic Theology for doctor of theology doctorate . In 1922 he received an extraordinary professorship and in 1926 a chair for systematic theology in Greifswald , where he worked as a colleague of Rudolf Hermann and saw himself as the administrator of the legacy of Hermann Cremer . “However, he led quite a hermit existence among colleagues.” Since the late 1920s, he headed the Pomeranian branch of the Society for Protestant Education.

Koepp's specialty was the history of Germanic religion . He became a supporter of the Völkisch - National Socialist ideology and wrote numerous books with this content. In 1939 he declared his collaboration with the Institute for Research and Elimination of the Jewish Influence on German Church Life .

In 1952 he received the chair at the University of Rostock . Retired in 1954, he taught at the University of Rostock until his death.
