Åkrehamn is a small town in the municipality of Karmøy on the island of Karmøy in the Fylke (Province) Rogaland in the south of Norway . Åkrehamn has 7,873 inhabitants and an area of 4.35 km². The city received city status on 2002. Until 1986, Åkrehamn was the administrative city of Karmøy municipality.
geography
Åkrehamn is located in the Haugaland region on the west coast of the island of Karmøy, south of the Veavågen fjord arm . Lake Tjøsvollvatnet, located in the urban area, is part of the Tjøsvollvatnet nature reserve, which has existed since 1996.
The sandy beach Åkrasanden was voted the most beautiful beach in Norway in 2014.
Attractions
To the west of Fylkesvei 47 is the old Åkra church. It is a long wooden church from 1821 and was the parish church until the rebuilding of Åkra in 1985.
The Åkrehamn Coast Museum (until 2007 Rogaland Fisheries Museum) is located near the town's harbor.

Åkrehamn is located at Fylkesvei 13, which is a main route from south to north on the island of Karmøy and further north on European route 134 .
