Hans Erik Ingemar Svensson (born July 30, 1955 in Falkenberg ) is a former Swedish rower . He won the 1983 world championship bronze in a four-man without a helmsman .

Athletic career

The 1.99 m tall Hans Svensson vom Falkenbergs RK took part in the world championships for the first time in 1975 and finished eighth in the single . The following year he took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. After a third place in the preliminaries, he finished fourth in the semi-finals, one and a half seconds behind third-placed Finn Pertti Karppinen . In the B-final he crossed the finish line in third place and finished ninth in the overall standings.

After an eighth place at the 1977 World Championships and a seventh place at the 1978 World Championships , Svensson reached the A final at the 1979 World Championships in Bled. There he rowed to fourth place behind Pertti Karppinen and the two Germans Peter-Michael Kolbe (West) and Rüdiger Reiche (East). At the finish he was 3.71 seconds behind Reiche. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Kolbe was not at the start because of the Olympic boycott . In the preliminary run, Svensson took second place behind Wassili Jakuscha from the Soviet Union. With a third place in the semi-finals behind Pertti Karppinen and Vladek Lacina from Czechoslovakia, Svensson reached the A-final. There he finished fifth, four and a half seconds behind third-placed Peter Kersten from the GDR. In 1981 Svensson finished ninth at the World Championships , in 1982 in Lucerne he was fifth.

In 1983 Anders Wilgotson , Hans Svensson, Lars-Åke Lindqvist and Anders Larson formed a four without a helmsman. At the world championships in Duisburg , the boat from Germany won ahead of the boat from the Soviet Union. Four seconds behind, the Swedes won the bronze medal with almost a second advantage over the boat from the GDR . At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the Swedish four-man competed in the previous year's line-up and finished in sixth place. At the 1985 World Championships , Svensson was once again eighth in the single.

Hans Svensson's father Ingemar Svensson took part in the Olympic rowing competitions in 1952.
