Åsa Larsson
Åsa Larsson (born June 28, 1966 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish writer.
Life
Åsa Larsson grew up in Kiruna , the northernmost city in Sweden. She studied law in Uppsala and initially worked as a tax lawyer. She only began to write after the birth of her daughter. She lives in Mariefred with her partner and two children .
Åsa Larsson's crime novels are set in Kiruna and are partly rooted in the author's biography. The main character is the lawyer Rebecka Martinsson, who - like the author herself - grew up in Kiruna, but moved to the south for studies and work. The two novels Sonnensturm and White Night take place in the milieu of the Swedish free churches, in which the author herself grew up.
Åsa Larsson's first crime novel Sonnensturm was awarded the Swedish Crime Prize in 2003 for best debut. A year later she received the award in the category “Best Swedish Detective Novel” for her second novel, White Night .
Together with author Ingela Korsell and illustrator Henrik Jonsson , Asa Larsson wrote the urban fantasy series Pax for young people, the first volume of which was published in 2014. The focus is on the brothers Alrik and Viggo; the series takes place in Mariefred Larsson's home.
She is a granddaughter of the Swedish cross-country skier Erik Larsson , who became Olympic champion over the 18-kilometer route at the 1936 Olympic Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .
