Maike Dörries
Maike Dörries (born April 21, 1966 in Oldenburg ) is a German literary translator .
Life
Maike Dörries grew up in East Frisia . From 1989 to 1995 she completed a study of Scandinavian and Low German at the University of Göttingen , she with the master's degree completed. From 1996 to 1998 she worked as an editor at Anrich-Verlag, Kevelaer. She has been working as a freelance translator and literature scout since 1998 . Dörries lives in Mannheim .
Maike Dörries translates fiction for adults as well as books for children and young people from Swedish , Norwegian and Danish into German . She is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ, for whose trade journal Translate she works on a voluntary basis.
In 1994 Katarina von Bredow's book "Ludvig Meine Liebe", translated by Maike Dörries, was awarded the Buxtehuder Bullen , and in 1996 Mats Wahl's novel Winterbucht von Mats Wahl , which she also translated, was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize .
In 2017 Maike Dörries was awarded the NORLA Translator Prize, a prize from the Norwegian book export promotion company Norwegian Literature Abroad .
