Kim Fupz Aakeson (born September 12, 1958 in Vesterbro , Copenhagen ) is a Danish writer , illustrator , comic book author and screenwriter .

Life

After his parents divorced, Kim Fupz Aakeson grew up in Albertslund Municipality and graduated from Vallensbæk Gymnasium in 1977 , after which he attended Tvinds Rejsende Højskole , a school whose main focus is on imparting experiences of life in developing countries . However, he called these 16 months in retrospect, especially because of their “ideological claim” as a “shock for life”. He then went back to Copenhagen with some friends, where he kept himself afloat with a wide variety of creative professions. He drew, wrote, made music and also worked for a time on a local radio station. Above all, he discovered his passion for comics , so that, after attending an evening course, he started working as a comic artist. His first works were published in the Danish newspapers Ugeavisen København and Politisk Revy .

After playing his two comics Gå løs på livet (1982) and Kys! (1984) published, he became more and more annoyed about the deadlines that he had to meet, so that he became interested in other book formats and from 1984 started with Hvem vover at vække guderne? published his first picture book. He discovered that writing in particular was relatively easy for him, which is why he concentrated more and more on writing and less on drawing. Although he continued to work as a draftsman for the Danish weekly newspaper Weekendavisen , his first novel , De Gale , was published in 1992, having previously written several children's books . For his children's books he worked with well-known Swedish and Danish illustrators such as Cato Thau-Jensen , Tina Modeweg-Hansen and Otto Dickmeiss . He placed particular emphasis on topics such as " death , illness and misery " and how children deal with them. And after he first published a book for adults in 1993 with his novel Min Laslo , he studied screenwriting at Den Danske Filmskole for another year and a half . He himself stated that he noticed that he had been working at home in the free city of Christiania for his daughter for the past ten years and saw no one, which is why he absolutely wanted to change again.

During his studies he met the Danish director Pernille Fischer Christensen , for whom he wrote films such as En Soap , Der Tanz and Eine Familie .
