The Çine Çayı is a left tributary of the Great Meander ( Büyük Menderes ) in southwest Turkey .
The Çine Çayı was called Marsyas in ancient times . It rises near Yeşilyurt in the northwest of the Muğla province . From there it flows in a predominantly north-westerly direction. It passes the city of Yatağan and is now gradually turning north. The river crosses the provincial border to Aydın . There it is dammed by the Çine-Adnan-Menderes dam . The town of Çine is located below the dam . The Çine Çayı flows north in a wide valley and joins the Great Meander 8 km south of the provincial capital Aydın . The Çine Çayı has a length of 88 km. The D550 trunk road (Muğla – Aydın) follows the course of the Çine Çayı.
