Éclairs sur l'Au-Delà… ( German Streiflichter über das Jenseits… ) is an 11- movement piece of music for a large orchestra by the French composer Olivier Messiaen .

Emergence

Messiaen composed the work between 1987 and 1991 as a commission for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra on the occasion of the orchestra's 150th anniversary.

Performance history

The world premiere took place on November 5, 1992 in New York's Lincoln Center under the musical direction of Zubin Mehta , the composer had already died at this point.
