Edouard Drouot

Édouard Drouot (born April 3, 1859 in Sommevoire , France , † 1945 in Paris , France) was a French sculptor .

Life

Before his career as a sculptor, Drouot was already successful as a painter. He studied in Paris with the sculptors Émile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau . In addition to his portrait busts and classical figures, often with allegorical and mythical subjects, he became known for numerous bronze statuettes , including sports and hunting scenes in the Art Deco style . He turned particularly to the subjects of animal sculpture, North Africa and Indians.

Drouot showed his work from 1889 to the 20th century at the Salons des Artistes Français , the annual art exhibition of the Société des Artistes Français . He received a medal here in 1892 and a mention honorable at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900 . He worked with several art foundries , including the Fonderie Thiébaut Frères .
