Edouard Nzambimana

Édouard Nzambimana (born December 20, 1945 in Mantana; † 2015 ) was a businessman and politician from Burundi .

biography

Nzambimana, who belongs to the Tutsi people , completed an officer training after attending school and eventually rose to major . On March 13, 1974, President Michel Micombero appointed him Minister for Public Works, Transport and Equipment (Ministre des Travaux Publics, des Transports et de l'Equipement) by Presidential Decree No. 100/69.

On November 1, 1976 he took part in a military coup against President Micombero and was appointed Prime Minister on November 12, 1976 after the inauguration of President Colonel Jean-Baptiste Bagaza as chairman of a Supreme Military Council of this. At the same time he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and took over the office of planning minister (Ministre du Plan) in his cabinet. As part of a government reshuffle, on May 31, 1978, in addition to the office of Prime Minister, he also took over the offices of Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (Ministre de l'Agriculture, de l'Elevage et du Développement Rural). He held these positions until the abolition of the Prime Minister's office on October 13, 1978. He was then Foreign Minister in the government of President Bagaza until 1982.

In 1982 he left the government and initially worked as an architect in the private sector before becoming the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ERCOIL, a company that specializes in the import of petroleum products and the sale of these products at petrol stations Group specialized in Burundi. In addition, he is also the CEO of the insurance group UCAR.
