Édson Boaro , aka Édson or Édson Abobrão (born July 3, 1959 in São José do Rio Pardo , São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . He played in the position of a defender .

He played for AA Ponte Preta (1978-1984), Corinthians São Paulo (1984-1989), Palmeiras São Paulo (1989-1992), Guarani FC (1992), EC Noroeste , Paysandu SC and Clube do Remo (1993), Botafogo FR (1994-1995) and São José do Rio Pardo (1995-1998). He was elected to the Eleven of the Year ( Bola de Ouro ) in 1984.

Édson played the first two games of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Actually Leandro intended for his position, but not this took because he had been annoyed by a decision of the coach. Édson was injured in Guadalajara in their second game against Algeria and was replaced by veteran Falcão . In the next match Josimar was put in his place . Édson never played for Brazil again.
