Josimar Higino Pereira known as Josimar (born September 19, 1961 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . He played as a right defender for u. a. for Botafogo FR and Brazil .

International career

Josimar played 16 times for Brazil between June 1986 and November 1989. He was used three times at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico , where he performed well. Josimar stepped in for the injured regular Édson . Josimar scored two goals, against Northern Ireland and Poland, the 1-0 against France he prepared. It remained his only international goals. Three years later he won the Copa America with Brazil. Here he was only used once: in the last game of the tournament, he was substituted on in the 86th minute.

After the active time

He is currently an assistant trainer at Botafogo FR .

Private

Josimar's son, Josimar Jr., played for the Botafogo FR youth team . At the end of 2006 he went to the Sport Club Cruzeiro and later to Vasco da Gama .
