Élisabeth Baume-Schneider (born December 24, 1963 in Saint-Imier ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Élisabeth Baume-Schneider studied economics and politics at the University of Neuchâtel and graduated in 1987 with a licentiate. From 1989 to 2002 she worked as a social worker. In 2002 she was elected to the government ( Gouvernement ) of the Canton of Jura . She headed the education, sports and culture department there. In 2006 and 2008 she presided over the government . Before being elected to the government, she was a member of the parliament of the Canton of Jura from 1995 , which she presided over in 2000. Until 2015 she was a member of the government of the Canton of Jura. In the 2019 elections , Baume-Schneider was elected to the Council of States .

Elisabeth Baume-Schneider is married and has two children.
