Éric Dewilder (born April 10, 1964 in Le Portel ) is a former French football player and current coach . He is the son of Robert Dewilder , also a former soccer player and coach.
Player career
Éric Dewilder comes from the youth of the RC Lens and was part of the extended professional squad as a 17-year-old. Until 1983, however, he could not book a use with the first division and therefore moved on loan to FC Limoges , where his father Robert Dewilder was coach at that time. Limoges played in the second French division and reached a good fourth place in the table at the end of the season. In the following season, Dewilder was awarded again, this time to Olympique Marseille , who had previously been promoted back to the first division. With Marseille, the defender collected first appearances in France's top division and was able to prevent the direct relegation at the end of the season. The return to Lens followed, where with the former Polish national player Joachim Marx a new coach was waiting for Dewilder. Under Marx he was a member of the tribe and was to play a major role in the defense of Lens in the following years.
In 1988 he turned his back on the club after a mixed season and moved to runner-up Girondins Bordeaux . There he played in defense with Didier Sénac and Bixente Lizarazu . Other world stars like Zinédine Zidane or Didier Deschamps were also part of the squad at the time. Despite the numerous stars, Éric Dewilder only reached 13th place in the table with Bordeaux and was not happy there. This was followed by the move to SM Caen , where he also only played one season and, together with his teammates, ensured the club's relegation. In 1990 he went to FC Sochaux and felt at home again after the unlucky years . Despite the bad league placements from Sochaux, he remained loyal to his club and played there, for example, together with Mehmed Baždarević . In 1994 Dewilder moved to first division SC Bastia and at the end of the season managed to stay in relegation with his new team, while his old club Sochaux was relegated as a knocked-off bottom of the table. At Gazélec FCO Ajaccio and RC Paris , the defender let his playing career end until 1997.
Coaching career
At RC Paris , Éric Dewilder immediately took over his first coaching post after the end of his active career. Other coaching stations so far have been at AS Poissy and FC Rouen .
Others
In Villefranche-sur-Mer on the Côte d'Azur , Éric Dewilder and his wife own the hotel “La fiancée du pirate”.
