Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê is the tenth studio album by the French Zeuhl band Magma . It was released on November 5, 2009.

background

Work on "Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê" began in the 1970s, and some musical themes can already be found on the live album "Hhaï" from 1975 and on " Üdü Ẁüdü " from 1976. In the course of the following decades the piece was repeatedly changed and expanded.

In the context of the myth of Kobaïa , which the band tells in their discography, "Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê" is the conclusion of the "Köhntarkösz" trilogy, which included the albums "Köhntarkösz" (1974), " KA " (2004) and "Ëmëhntëhtt- Rê ”and describes the connection between the Kobaïan people and ancient Egypt . The main character Köhntarkösz discovers the grave of the old master Ementeht-Re, who was murdered before he could achieve his goal of immortality. In a vision he reveals his secret.

Style and reception

On “Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê” the influences of classical music, jazz and jazz rock , which were already known from its predecessor “KA” , are represented again, and the choral singing typical of Magma is omnipresent. Thus, the album follows on from its predecessor not only in terms of content, but also musically.
