Óscar Denis

Amancio Óscar Denis Sánchez (born February 10, 1946 in Concepción , Paraguay ) is a Paraguayan politician, chemist and was Vice President of Paraguay from June 28, 2012 to August 15, 2013.

education

Denis attended primary school at the Escuela Santa Teresita in Concepción. He completed secondary school at the Colegio Nacional de Concepción , where he did his Bachiller en Ciencias y Letras . At the Universidad Nacional de Asunción he obtained a doctorate in Químico Industrial .

Political career

Denis belongs to the Partido Liberal Radical Auténtico (PLRA). From 1993 to 1998 he was governor of the Department of Concepción . He was then a member of parliament from 1998 to 2003. He was then elected to the Senate. After Fernando Lugo was voted out of a juicio politico and Vice President Federico Franco was elected as the new President, he was elected as the successor to the now vacant post of Vice President on June 28, 2012, whereupon his office as a member of parliament expired. He will hold the office of Vice President until the end of the 2013 regular electoral term.

Private

Óscar Denis is married to Myriam Stella Bareiro García and has three daughters.
