The series 2095 of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is a series of four-axle narrow gauge - diesel locomotives for 760mm gauge.
history
The 15 locomotives for the 760 mm gauge were built from 1958 by the Simmering-Graz-Pauker company (SGP, today Siemens) as the LDH 600s plant in the Floridsdorf locomotive factory . They replaced a large part of the steam locomotives that had been indispensable on several routes up to that point . Due to their robust construction and their universal usability, they could be found on almost all narrow-gauge railways operated by the ÖBB at the time.
The locomotives are used on the narrow-gauge railways Zell am See - Krimml ( Pinzgauer Lokalbahn ), the Ybbstalbahn and on the Mariazellerbahn and its branch line; they can also be found on the Waldviertel narrow-gauge railways, which are only used for tourism, as a supplement to steam operation. The series was also used on the Bregenzerwaldbahn, which was discontinued in 1985 .
Whereabouts
2095.02 and 03 were so badly damaged in a head-on collision on the Pinzgauer local railway on July 2, 2005 that they were retired after the investigation into the cause of the accident. The other locomotives were still in the stock of the ÖBB or three copies were taken over by the Salzburg Local Railway, which uses them as Vs 71-73 on the Pinzgauer Local Railway, which has been owned by the State of Salzburg since July 1, 2008. All of the locomotives remaining with ÖBB were handed over to the Niederösterreichische Verkehrsorganisationsgesellschaft in 2010 , which later resold some of the locomotives. 2095.08 also came to the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn from NÖVOG in 2014, and 2095.13 was given to the Bregenzerwald Museum Railway in 2015 .
2095.11 and 2095.14 were transported to Romania for CFI Brad on July 8, 2015 .
technical features
The SGP twelve-cylinder engine can also be found in the 2067 series . The outer gear sets are driven by a two-stage Voith turbo transmission , the inner ones are driven by drive rods. The first three locomotives had a steam boiler for train heating, these were expanded in 1967/68, as the passenger coaches now had Webasto heaters. As a result, the machine room layout and fan arrangement are different. A direct compressed air brake is available as a brake for the locomotive, and a suction air brake is combined for the train .
Coloring
Initially, the locomotives were painted in two colors: sand yellow / carmine red (01), beige / carmine red (02/03), ivory / blood orange (04-10). From 1965 the car body was painted blood orange. The central chrome trim has been replaced by an ivory-colored stripe over the years. From 1987 the locomotive boxes were given a wide stripe in ivory or agate gray at the bottom of the box , but the central stripe was omitted. From 1990 the car bodies were painted in traffic red.
