Ömer Faruk Gökçe (born July 27, 1962 in Elazığ ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

The beginnings of Gökçe's professional career are only partially documented. So he played in the 1984/85 season for Elazığspor , the second legiist of his hometown Elazığ. In the coming season he moved within the league to Gaziantepspor . After his career had remained undocumented between 1986 and 1990, he played again for Elazığspor in the 1990/91 season. In the summer of 1991 he moved to Diyarbakırspor and after only three months moved on to Tarsus İdman Yurdu . He left this club in the summer of 1992 and moved to the Central Anatolian third division club Aksarayspor . After two years he returned to Tarsus İdman Yurdu. After playing for Sökspor from 1995 to 1998 , he ended his active career in the summer of 1998.

Coaching career

Officially, Gökçe began his coaching career in 2002 in the youth department of Elazığspor . From summer 2003 he started working as an assistant trainer and will continue this activity until 2008. In the meantime, he worked four times as head coach on an interim basis. In the 2004/05 season he even coached the team from the 11th matchday until the end of the season, after the head coaches Mehmet Şahan and Ömer Faruk Taşdemir had previously left the club.

For the 2009/10 season he took over Elazığspor as head coach, but left the club after two months.

In the summer of 2014/15 he was presented again at Elazığspor as head coach. Later, the club decided for Ümit Özat as head coach.
