Östermalmstorg is an underground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the Östermalm district . The station is served by the Röda linjen of the Stockholm metro system . The central location in the city center makes the station one of the busiest stations on the subway network. On a normal winter working day, 38,000 commuters get on and transfer here.
The station went into operation on May 16, 1965 as the 59th underground station when the first northern section of the Röda linjen between T-Centralen and Östermalmstorg was inaugurated. The station was built using the cut-and-cover method. The platforms are about 38 meters underground. The station is between the stations T-Centralen and Karlaplan (T13) or Stadion (T14). It is around one kilometer to Stockholm Central Station .
