Karlaplan is an underground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the Östermalm district , below the square of the same name. The station is served by the Röda linjen of the Stockholm metro system . The central location in the city center makes the station one of the busiest stations in the underground network. On a normal working day, 13,000 commuters get on here.
The station went into operation on September 2, 1967, when the section of Röda linjen between Östermalmstorg and Ropsten was inaugurated. The station was built using the cut-and-cover method, the platforms are approx. 23 meters underground. The station is located between the Östermalmstorg and Gärdet stations . It is around two kilometers to Stockholm Central Station .
